If I could name my FAVORITE days on tour so far, this day would be in the top 5. The Bergen Railway runs from Oslo to Bergen - going from coast-to-coast, climbing some of the highest peaks, and running through some of the most famous fjords. The first train provides panoramic windows, the second train is an original steam engine, and the third leg includes a ferry ride through the fjords. A final bus and train finish the trek from East to West coast, arriving in the perfect, beautiful, quaint fishing and university town Bergen. It was on this journey that I truly felt I experienced (and fell in love with) Norway. I never would have thought to go to Norway for outdoor adventure... but it has more to offer than I ever could have imagine. Quite simply, the Bergen Railway took my breath away and gave me all the more reason to be humbled by the creation that is our world.
